Steam won't launch!

Anyone else having problems with Steam? Earlier it was working fine, I was playing HL2 without a problem. Yet now it refuses to start and throws up this error. It still shows as running in the Task Manager but just refuses to run.

Nothing has changed on my system nor my game settings. Also, does anyone know how to get HL2 to run offline because for some reason mine is 100% ready and has never ran offline at all.

Delete the clientregistry.blob in the steam folder and try again.

Azagoth, I sometimes get that too.

Like Tombo says, do that "clientregistry.blob" deletion and clears it up

Download and install the UXTheme patch for XP first.

Actually, it'll be better for you to read through this guide than for me to attempt to explain it. Trust me, it'll be a lot more coherent.

If you have any problem with steam what so ever then delete clientregistry.blob!!!

It is the ultimate steam fix

Is it just me or is it totally ironic that a .blob can cause so many problems, yet when the lady in my life suffers the same thing it's me who's causing all the problems and can't do anything right? :eek:
