Okay so I was just messing around on MSN settings and the connection part loaded up and it displayed this:

problemms9.jpg

Uhm im not really sure how to fix that on my router? I mean the NAT section on my router is empty like nothing filled in, so im not sure what to put there. Even though every other program works fine but Steam, im wondering if ^ is causing Steam not to connect.

My router manual:

Answers greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you just want to enable UPnP on your router.. strict NAT should be fine for steam..

Do you reckon you could help me enable it because I can't seem to find an option for it. I'll read through the manual, but where is it generally located?

Dunno why im the only one that can see that router website.

Anyway is their anyway to enable UPnP somehow within command prompt or something like that?

Or even with a program?

Bumping again...

I enabled UPnP through Windows but it was already enabled I just set it to automatic.

Anyway I still can't login to Steam due to that error and the MSN connection option is still telling me im behind a restricted NAT and UPnP is not enabled

^I dunno whats wrong

I seriously am lost, I mean I fix all of my problems I run into no problem, I research if I have to and fix it no problem. But this I have researched and everything for months and can't come to a conclusion on whats not making it work. I don't even know whats causing it not to work, I know its most likely the router which it is probly but I don't know how to make it work on the router, it always worked before but just magically stopped?

Steam support can't help me on it:

"This would be an issue you would need to contact the router manufacturer regarding, we could not troubleshoot this issue."

I don't even know what im supposed to look for in the manual  ?? I can't get another router if it worked before it has to work again I just don't know what was changed on the router to make it not work? I mean I know an IT professional came to link up another computer to the router and configure it to work with it but I don't know what was changed.

Seriously I haven't got a clue how to fix it, help!

Nah I can't even log in. When I go to the login box, I type in my user and pass then it says:

"Could not connect to the Steam network. This could be a problem with your Internet connection or the Steam servers. Please go to Steampowered.com for more info".

Meant to answer these for you:

Can you surf the Internet in a normal way? Yep, perfect
Can you send email in the normal way? Yep, perfect
Can you use chat clients (ICQ/MSN/Yahoo/Skype)? perfect on msn and xfire
Generally - does the Internet, except for Steam, work perfectly for you? - Yep perfectly. Everything works nicely but Steam, even all my online games.

Have you still got your USB ADSL modem? Install this and then do a test using this. It will confirm to you if it really is your Router that is to the problem, or is the problem actually in the PC?

Don't think so?

I could borrow one but I don't want to disconnect things as the router is located in another room and its extremely awkward and would be very difficult and take a long time.
