thought there was a sticky for steam FAQs but cant see it now

anyways, SSD should be here tomorrow, so will need to do a fresh install and that means steam games :(
i will be using the SSD for windows and an 1TB F3 drive for installs. i have read that you can just copy the steam folder to the drive and then change the links to point there. does this mean the complete steam folder, if so do i move it over, then reinstall steam (changing th installation destination to D: instead of C:)? or do i just install steam on D: and then copy certain folders?

You can do several things. You can move the entire Steam folder, and then just re-run the Steam.exe when Windows is installed. Or you can do what I do, and move steamapps ONLY to a different folder, and then install Steam on the SSD. Then I use mklink to link the two folders :) Works a treat.

There's little benefit to having just the Steam client on an SSD, all it's doing is sitting there humming away doing nothing most the time.

The usual thing to do is install/move Steam and all the games to the mechanical drive, then use GameSaveManager/Steam mover/DIY with mklinks to put the few games your playing currently on the SSD.

so i can have steam and all games installed on D:, but the 1 or 2 games im playing i can install on C: to make them run better?
