Bit of a rant really but have Valve dropped the ball lately or what? trying to install steam on my surface and its brought up a message that its a new machine and its sent an email.
The email i used for steam is an old as hell one which it seems i cant access any more so i emailed valve support via the webpage (created a ticket) on thursday and nothing has happened as of yet which seems a bit ****. In the mean time im at my parents where the original install of steam is i guess, and for some reason when i log in from there its almost acting like steam is down..... Sigh. there goes my hopes of weekend minecraft
 
In my experience it will take up to a week to be sorted. I say that only because once I forgot my password and was waiting for a week until they rectified it.

Also, you don't need Steam to play Minecraft.
 
I found it took three attempts to allow me in through the browser the other day. Each time, it sent me the same code to use over and over.

But as said, you shouldn't need Steam to play Minecraft?
 
Steam seems to be struggling lately, often takes me 3-4 attempts to login and the store page fails to load 1 time in 3.
 
I've had problems with the codes, yep. Does seem iffy.having an old email address on there is your own fault though. Can't blame steam for that!
