I read the FAQ and the premise is that u buy a steam game as a gift and then make a giveaway.

Do I require altruism to participate?

There have been a fair few of these in the past and they all turn out to be a scam.

Once you complete this, It'll ask you to fill out another survey and it will never unlock. Even had one asking you to sign up to a premium rate text subscription doo-dah.

Steamgifts is completely legit. I got Titan Quest for free from there.

There is absolutely no way to get scammed. You enter giveaways for free. If you win, some guy sends you a game for nothing. If you win and he doesn't send you anything, you haven't lost anything except 10 seconds of your time clicking "enter giveaway". But 99% of the time the giveaway creators will give their gifts.

And no you don't need to give anything away to use the site. The "reward" for giving away games is increased chances of winning other giveaways because you can enter giveaways that can only be entered by people who have given away x number of dollars worth of games.

To clarify, http://steamgifts.com/ is legit, can't speak to the .org version. But just briefly looking at the site, I doubt it.

Steamgifts is great. I've won a game from it, and given away my excess humble keys there.
My friend is an ass and has won 3 games
