Hi guys,

I've only just started to appreciate the benefits of streaming media/video from my pc to my ps3 but I have a few issues; what overall file format is recommended? I know loads are supported and I've tried different ones with some working better than others but is there an outright winner?

I would also like to be able to more consistently search files (fast-forward) since streaming doesn't appear to remember viewing sessions like it does with dvd/bluray etc. Initially I was streaming across wireless but I've since gone over to cable and that seems to have improved things slightly.

Any thoughts?

My advice is to buy a Now TV Box for a tenner, add Plex (Google it)and
run a Plex server from your PC.

Using a PS3 is more trouble than it's worth.

This ^ (but use rarFlix, Plex but with more features and free)

I used to use PS3 media server but Plex works far better with a decent client device. (The PS3 can play from a plex server but the interface is horrible).

Plus Cinavia protection on the PS3 is annoying.

^^ Worth a shot before I buy anything else. Is it available on the PSN store?

Thanks for the suggestions guys!
