So I've just got my set of Arctis Pro Wireless, the sound is amazing.
But if they are on, and nothing is playing you can hear the faint hiss of whitenoise.

Is this normal or is something wrong?

I've tried turning PC volume down and DAC up, and DAC down, and PC up.

Its constantly there when nothing is playing.
Probably there too when something is playing, but it totally masks it :)

I've set it up the way SS suggests too.

Isn’t this the problem of wireless technology? As I’ve heard the faint white hiss even with my Turtle Beach.

Old analog wireless transmission (especially infrared) headphones had noise and sound quality issues.
But properly done digital transmission has no business of doing any of that.

Likely reason is cheap gaming trinket construction.
For example even little substandard power supply of headphone's circuitry would easily cause noise.
And it's not like there's reason to trust even rest of circuitry being nothing but cheapest working.

Could be, but Astro's were awful. Often wouldnt connect at first, had to unplug and replug, getting them to sit correctly in the dock to charge was a nightmare.
So yeah they were fast gone.

Just wondering about the Arctis tho... anything else to try?

Also wondering if this is common with them, if anyone else has a set to share their exp with them.

Or if this is just my set, maybe I have something faulty and need to swap them out.

Umm my Astro A50's wireless I dont hear this.

Perfectly silent in a silent room? I cannot remember if the Steelseries Siberia 840 does it, if it does it was minuscule.
I’ve just checked, no hiss but there is another steady noise. Sounds like a very low steady transmitter power light hum. Not white noise but it’s so faint but not complete silence. Close enough though.

True. This was the thing I loved about the AKG K702. There was no sound with them plugged in, as if they were unplugged or powered down from the AMP. Even with the AMP there is no sound until anything plays.

Nah it's not your set. I have them since launch and they have the white noise. I made a reddit post about it and people acknowledged and then SS acknowledged saying every wireless model will have some hiss/white noise. I said it's a lot more than any other headset I ever experienced they said it's normal for SS headsets to have some hiss.

That's circumlocution for saying they're selling overpriced hype branded cheap Chinese excrement.

Would be good bet that Sennheiser RS models don't have any static.

Do you have the link to reddit so i can put my 2 cents in?

They can, but they'd more likely be the older cheaper analogue RF ones. Even the digital models can such as the RS170 and 180 are not immune it would seem. I've seen some comments from people about hiss being heard in the right cup where the electronics are housed. One guy returned a pair of 180's for a replacement pair only to find they were the same.

Someone else who had this issue with the RS180 didn't get any hissing with his cheap Chinese trinket Logitech G930. ;)

Could be just the cheaper RS models though; haven't seen any comments that the more expensive RS195 has this issue.

Steelseries Arctic Pro does have this hiss and cost around the same as the RS195. For around £250, you'd expect them not to; not if Sennheiser can achieve that with similar costing headphones; but maybe like many gaming headsets from peripheral manufacturers, they cost more than they should do. ;)

Avoiding the foibles of RF headphones is hit and miss, unless maybe you chuck enough money at it.
