Just been offered one of these, are these good keyboards?

I like the idea of the "game pad area" as I think I'd find it useful for mmo's...I play swtor atm.

This is also just over 50cm wide which sounds monstrous, not sure if it would be a problem, but the standard size keyboard I have atm leaves me with plenty of area on my desk.

What are these like for general use ie just for typing on?

This keyboard. Thanks

I use one of these, pretty good for mmo's with the amount of keys around the arrow keys, team it up with a razer naga ftw!
They are bigger than a normal keyboard and weigh a fair bit. I only noticed how big they were when i replaced it with a standard keyboard.

Thanks oliver, I was hoping for some opinions from people who own the keyboard :)

Anyone own this and would reccomend?

Have one as well Eames. For general use, it depends on the type of response you like from your keys. I find them to be fine, but others complain that they're a little "spongy" for their tastes. FWIW, I do a fair bit of typing on it and I have no complaints.

Be aware however, that the num pad keys double up with the Home, Pg Up etc keys which does take a bit of getting used to to be fair.

Ok I now own this keyboard :)

I like it, slowly adapting to the game board, but I'm getting there.

I was wondering is there a site where I can download new game profiles?

I'd like a profile for swtor I thought there would be a site with regularly updated profiles but there doesn't seem to be.

Thanks

I feel like posting more thoughts on this kb.

The typing feel is seriously the best I have ever had from a full height keys keyboard, it feels like a old style typewriter keyboard, I have never used a mechanical but I imagine this feels pretty similar from what I gather mechanicals feel like.

Seriously lovely typing feel, did not expect that from the looks of the kb but hey.

It IS annoying not having dedicated delete/pg up/pg dn keys...What I have done is basically sacrifice the use of the numpad to only use those keys as the delete etc keys.

The gamepad feels superior to my dedicated n52te gamepad to use, better key response and the keys are laid out intuitively. I mentioned there are not any profiles for new games, the default layout works for most games.

I really like this kb, I just wish it was somehow not as long so it would fit on my desk a bit better but there is no wasted space on the kb so I don't think it would be possible to shrink it.

LOVE this thing, the delete etc key thing is annoying, I am not a frequent user of the numpad so this is easily forgivable at least for me. This would be a great kb for gamers, designers (lots of gamepad keys to bind functions) and possibly typists (fantastic typing feel that harks back to beige keyboard days) as long as they can get over the hurdle of learning a altered layout.

Get one.

Great keyboard, the game pad side on the left is amazing for fps' and mmo's. Have another keyboard with a full number pad and cursors/delete/insert etc if you are doing development etc.

It took me a couple of days to get used to the gamepad side, but it is well worth persevering.

Anyone know where you can get one of these MERC Stealth Keyboards. Considering how popular they were, they appear to have been discontinued and I don't like the newer Steel Series keyboards. I've got the normal Merc keyboard but I can hardly see the keys when I'm playing in the dark, so I wouldn't mind buying the illuminated stealth version, but I can no longer find it for sale anywhere in the UK.

I tried looking for illuminated keyboard stickers, but I can't find any of those either. :(
