Steelseries Mouse Profiles?

I've given my Brother a Kana V2 mouse and he says that he can only save profiles to either Hardrive or Cloud Sync , is that correct as i thought you could save profiles to the mouse itself?

That is correct as the profiles are applied by the steelseries engine software (also I doubt that a mouse would be able to detect when a specific application or game starts running so it can change profile).

Well that sucks , you would have thought you could at least change and save the default layout so you don't need the engine loaded when swapping between hardware and linux as modern Mice allow firmware updates...

Apparently you need a driverless mouse as you can setup the defaults with button clicks on the mouse itself.
