Steelseries Xai issue

Hey guys,

I bought a Xai and just received it today, the Firmware sais it's 1.4.8 on the bottom but I can only find software 1.4.2. My on board USB controller picks it up as a "unknown device" it will not install at all. I've tried everything from flashing my bios, updating any drivers etc but nothing has worked.

I use a Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe edition motherboard which supports USB 2.0, I wonder because the Xai is USB 3.0 does it mean it will not run on this specific motherboard. I am due to upgrade soon but wanted to know if anyone has experience in this and feels it's a known issue or it could be the mouse is faulty?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Yes installed, once i load the program it does not pickup the Xai. I look in device manager and my USB controller shows it as "Unknown Device" no drivers installed. When i plug the mouse in it sais "One of the USB ports has malfunctioned click her to look at this issue" it does not recongise it what so ever. I'm thinking because my ports on my MB are 1.1 and 2.0 support i'm not sure if the Xai will work in a 2.0 usb port?
 
It would work fine, USB is usually backwards compatible. Have you tried any other USB ports? Tried the mouse on another PC?
 
Tried all ports and even tried my girlfriends laptop, same issue with no drivers being found and not installing.
 
RMA = Return merchandise authorization

Usually done when you have a faulty product, you send the item back to where you bought it, and if they also find it faulty, they will send you a replacement.
 
Only issue is i bought it off Ebay off a highly recommended user which i'm regretting now, it just keeps comming up usb has malfunctioned, my last effort will be is to try just format and start a fresh, do you think because i used an intelli 3.0 mouse before this xai it could be conflicting drivers? i did uninstall them before attempting the Xai.
 
No, that shouldn't be the case at all. You already tried it on another PC and since it comes up with "USB has malfunctioned" it points to a faulty mouse.
 
I've setup a support ticket on steelseries to try get any help, even though i bought it off another person on ebay i can return it to steelseries for them to investigate it?
