hi guys i have been a avid gamer for many of years, my go to games are sports games and a good single player action, adventure game, since day one i have always used a controller when playing racing games (f1 and forza motorsport), but since i got my son a logitech g29 steering wheel and pedals i have a itch to maybe get one too,
so my question is how hard/easy is it to go from a controller for 20 years and trying a steering wheel and pedals ? i dont own a actual car so not a real driver (have a push bike lol),
will be using a logitech g29 and my son suggested using iracing and go onto test track, so you can pratice without any pressures,
sorry forgot to mention im on pc.

Probably doesn’t help if you’ve never driven a car in real life, is their any guys that don’t drive and have a steering wheel and pedals ?

To start with should I turn all assists off in game

Oh I thought iracing was the way to go to get me started with steering wheel, as theirs a test track so no pressure or worrying about times etc, I have Assetto Corsa (comp) whatever the name is, would that be any better ?

had a quick go yesterday on the logi g29, and wasn’t to bad, getting use to the shift padals on the back of the wheel, my only concern is I’m getting terrible pains in my legs because of the very “stiff” brake pedal, and not setting my feet correctly, I’m hovering over the brake and throttle pedals, can’t get use to putting my feet heel on the base of the pedals base.

Had a go on iracing test track with the mx-5 and that’s what I’ll be doing for the next week,
Might try other sim racing games, but I reckon it’s best to stick to one game to get use to the steering wheel and pedals, it’s a strange feeling using the wheel, it’s been about 20 years playing f1,forza and ac with controller and putting on traction control on.

Mate, don't get caught up in this must turn off all assists mentality. If a car has them, then use them if you need to and adjust them up or down accordingly.
If you can go quicker without them, then great! Go for it.

Other than that, definitely look into ways of getting yourself more physically comfortable. I'm guessing you're using a desk at the moment? Maybe try raising the pedals up on something solid if possible.
Your correct, I’m using a desk to mount the steering wheel, the pedals to be fair don’t move on my carpet so it’s just my positioning of my feet I need to train.
