Hi

i have an Astra club, 2001, with the steering wheel controls for volume, radio station change etc.

i'm looking to buy a sony/pioneer MP3 CD/tuner. how can i get the steering wheel controls to work with the branded system, as i presume it won't work otherwise :(

could someone link me to this device on eshay? are they standard or do they vary for each car? anything else i need to know about them? its all new to me

ta

I don't think so, a company called Connects2 do something similar, part number CTDOPS005 would be what you want, I think. This looks like it drives the display and steering remote.

It's very expensive, though... about £80 - do you really need it?

EDIT: you might want to check if it'll work with your car, Connects2 say 2004 onwards only :o

I think Kenwood / Alpine and Pioneer have the best display out functions, don't think the sonys never used to do that well, i had an autoleads adapter in my 2004 clio working off a Kenwood PSW9524 HU, the factory screen scrolled radio text / mp3 titles / radio stations etc and the stalk controls worked the same as stock, cost about £60.

i was looking at some alpine/pioneer units. they are nice and like you say seem to have better connections for the stalk controls, but it's darn hard to find any with a 3.5mm aux port on the front of the display. i have an mp3 player i was hoping to link up too, therefore the sony's were appealing with this feature.

decisions

That actually looks like the Kenwood i used to have.

right, with the 3.5mm jack instead of the phono leads (or is that another lead again), so that'll just come round from the back of the HU. cool, thanks
