Hi guys,

I do a bit of casual gaming so I thought I'd treat myself to a wheel. Looking at second hand really because it would only see light use.

Has anybody used the Logitech Driving Force Wireless Steering Wheel? I had a driving force GT a few years ago and that was quite good but non of those for sale and a good price.

EDIT - Just noticed it doesn't have pedals! D'oh!

Cheers

I've been looking into buying one myself recently after my friend got a Thrustmaster T500 RS.

From my reckoning the hierarchy of the currently available steering wheel and pedal sets under £400~ is:-

1) Thrustmaster T500 RS (PC/PS3/PS4*)

2) Thrustmaster TX Racing Wheel Leather Edition** (PC/XB1) / T300 Ferrari Integral Racing Wheel Alcantara Edition (PC/PS3/PS4)***

3) Logitech G29 DRIVING FORCE (PC/PS3/PS4) / G920 DRIVING FORCE (PC/ XB1)

4) Logitech G27 (PC/PS3)

(These above all have 3 pedal sets)

5) Thrustmaster TX Racing Wheel Ferrari 458 Italia Edition (PC/XB1) / T300 Ferrari GTE Wheel / T300RS (PC/PS3/PS4)

6) Thrustmaster T150 Force Feedback Wheel / T150 Ferrari Wheel Force Feedback (PC/ PS3/ PS4)

7) T100 Force Feedback Racing Wheel (PC/PS3) / Ferrari 458 Italia (PC/ X360)

*May need a firmware update.
** This is the MK2 model apparently replacing the TX Italia which wasn't very reliable, I've also found it under the name "Thrustmaster 4460133". It could however be the same base as the Italia with a cosmetic change to the wheel / shifters and the upgraded pedals.
*** Similar to above, I'm not sure if this is the same base as it's predecessor but with a new wheel/ shifter and upgraded pedals.

Then you can buy a Thrustmaster TH8A Shifter for the Gear stick and a joystick for a handbrake.

Check out the Thrustmaster site direct.

Hope this helps :)

Logitech G29 is a far more balanced and cheaper package than the Thrustmaster T500 & T300, while the wheel itself is considered better the peddles are universally panned and you need to spend another £150 on top to get decent peddles. You'd be spending over £400 where as the G29 you can get for £160 for a wheel that's almost as good

The "T500 RS" comes with the "T3PA-PRO" pedals which I believe are the best ones on Thrustmasters range.

The New "TX Leather" and "T300 Alacantra" wheels come with "T3PA" pedals, very similar to the pro without the ability to flip the pedal position over.

The older "TX Italia" and "T300 Ferrari GTE/ RS" comes with the 2 pedal set up.

Old "TX Italia" http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_UK/products/tx-racing-wheel-ferrari-458-italia-edition
New "TX Leather" http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_UK/products/tx-racing-wheel-leather-edition-0

I agree the "Logitech G29/ G290" is a good value wheel but smaller diameter wheel and shorter distance between the pedals the newer "TX/T300" @ a £309 is a far more attractive bundle. For me anyway.

I also ask myself why has the "Logitech G29/ G290" been so heavily discounted over the last few months? which is why I placed it at number 3. :)

I dont think under the hood wise they are much different from g25/27. Just cosmetic with a game pad stuck on. Fanatec does not seem to be mentioned but there is plenty of CSR wheels about think they can be had for the £100 pound mark second hand also pedals are worth looking at. Think the one below the clubsports go reasonable.

the new logitech wheels are no different to the g25/g27. they are really not that brilliant. the market has moved on with new technology which feels better to use logitech are still using an 8-10 year old design.

I still have a G25 from years ago, it's still an awesome wheel in my opinion! Not be a bad choice, if you're after a cheap second hand one. Although they still hold decent money.

You can pick the Logitech DFGT up for £50 online used. I've just bought one to use with ETS2.

Can't justify the cost of a more expensive wheel to use on one game.

If you are looking for a wheel the purple shirt place online has the Logitech G920 wheel and pedals plus a free gear stick addon for £184 down from 299, same for G29, depends if you need just for PC or want a XBOX/PS controller too.

Cheers for all the replies guya. I have managed to pick up a Logitech drive force GT second hand for £50. I just wish UPS tracking would work!

Does anybody have a wheel stand or know how low they go? I have an xrocker chair but its one that sits directly on the floor so its quite low.

Fully retracted with the central arm vertical, the height from the floor to the bottom of the DFGT wheel is 16".

I've had my wheel stand pro for a few years now, so I don't know if the newer version has the same dimensions.

Sounds like you've ordered it from the same place as me as my trackings only just updated today saying it's shipped finally.

Mine is even better now "We've incorrectly sorted the package at our facility" and it's changed to the status "delayed". Not like it was already delayed anyway! :p
