I'm hoping to Overclock my E8400 sometime in the near future - for when the new batch of games comes out.

It'll be my first ever overclock, so I'm not overly confident and was wondering if there was any reliable step by step guides? Or just a very beginner guide about? I've read the sticky but is there anything out there that's even more simple :p

I've got a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard btw :)

Yeah, I saw that. Read a few E8400 guides with Gigabyte boards and going to go for it soon. I've got a Arctic Freezer Pro 7 fan...would that be enough to get a decent OC? What would be considered a dangerous temperature?

You should get a decent overclock with the Arctic Freezer. They generally do 4Ghz with low voltages. I get 4Ghz with 1.325v through it and temps with Small FTT's using Prime95 at 59c.

What stepping is it? C0 or E0? Stepping can be found here with your code

I personally keep temps below 60c tbh. There is a thread here for Wolfdales.

C0, I'll check the thread out :)

Alrighty, I'm off school all this week so I reckon I'll try and get it done.

I have an almost identical set-up to Willibo so I've been looking at that thread carefully.

1 question, I've currently only got 2x1GB sticks if RAM. If I successfully overclocked with them but added another 2x1GB sticks in the future, how would I go about setting them up? Just put the new 1x2GB sticks on the same settings as the original RAM that successfully OC'd or does it not work like that?

:p

How do I save the current settings in the bios? Will I need to save the settings before OCing or do I load up the optimized/fail-safe defaults...

Ok, thanks Wiggins. Can I save multiple settings in the bios? For example my original settings and my OC settings?
