havnt read a king book (apart from the dark towers) since the days of The stand (rebought for 20p today uncut edition)It, talisman (with straub) bachman books carrie ect ect (i know these were a long while ago) so is any of his later stuff any good ?

I wouldn't recomend Duma Key - didn't grab me at all but some of the other recent stuff is good.

Blaze was good and I enjoyed Cell.

Going back further I think he was in his prime around It, The dark Half, Needless Things.

+1 for Duma key i recently finished it, interesting story especially as he takes things out of New England. I didnt like Cell, to me it was like the first half of stand modernised and King seemed an old dad trying to look cool. I do love his books though.

Is there one where the way of life is that everyone has to keep running forever? They can't stop, if they do they die or something? If someone knows what that one is called let me know, sounds intruiging. (Remembering a friend mentioning it 10+ years ago)

I'm on the final Dark Tower book at the moment, and I can say it is probably the best set of books I have ever read.

I really liked Duma Key too. I've read the DT books, fantastic reads for books 1-5, the last two disappear up their own backside though.

For me, my favourite Stephen King books have always been insomnia and bag of bones, followed very closely by The Stand.

Insomnia and Bag of Bones are not really horror stories, but are just great almost fantasy reads. A world apart from the likes of "it" and the shining, but still wonderfully King like.
