hi overclockers!

i have an e2180 clocked to 3.4 :-) and i am currently waiting for parts etc for my new watercooling loop.

i was wandering if anyone could help me decide on what the next budget overclockable processor i buy should be? the e2180 was undoubtably one of the best overclockers around and i will no doubt try to increase the clock on that aswell when the water set up is in place.

But the cpu is also well outdated and i want something faster for gaming, encoding videos and general office stuff. Would an e4xx series be that much better than the e2xx series for me to just buy one of those and overclock it or is there a new 'king' of oc?

thanx

E7200 without a doubt. Tho the E2180 at 3.4ghz is still more able to hold its own.

No point in jumping from E2*00 to an E4*00 chip.

en e2180 is more than able to hold its own, and moving to a e4*** chip would be a sidestep.. the extra cache would give you very little extra performance in gaming and office apps.

If you really want to spend some money, I'd recommend another 2GB's of ram.
CPU wise, the E7200 is the new bang-for-buck king :)

that good cos i was lookig at that cpu. think its worth waiting till end of june cos the price changes and new cpu's etc?

the ram suggestion is an entriely different debate isn't it? some say it doesnt matter having 4 gb but obviously some (like yourself uvmain) say it does :-)

I would keep the cpu for the time being and increase your ram from 2Gb to 4Gb. Once you have your watercooling together have a go at pushing your e2180 even further :)

lol, not a bad idea, i'll start looking for the ram cooling heat sinks :-)

is it me, or this customising stuff just addictive!?!?!
