Steps to remove SLI

My pre-built system has 2 GTX285 cards in SLI.

If I want to revert to having 2 independent cards, thus allowing 4 outputs, what steps do I have to take other than removing the link cable between the top of the cards? Any clever tricks needed with the drivers and graphics setup or will it just all happen by magic?

You disable SLI in the nvidia control panel. That's it. You don't even need to remove the bridge.
