Hi all,

Recently purchased a nice new Dell Inspiron 640m laptop. It's got the standard headphones out, and I would really like to be able to connect it to my 5.1 system (Creative p580). I can do this simply by connecting the laptop to the aux-in of the speakers, but then all I get is the front two channels and the subwoofer.

I think what would be ideal would be some sort of splitter cable that could split the audio from the laptop into the 3 channels of the speakers, so audio would come through them all; but do these exist? Any other way I can make this work?

Thanks,

Rob.

Are you sure that laptop doesn't have digital out as well? Most these day seem to. If you're having no luck then a 5.1 external sound card is likely to cost the same as the mixer you'd use to split the signal up, and give a better result.

Yeh, no digital out. I do have a mixer which I could use, but thought there might be some sort of splitter cable I could use instead; save the faff of having to set levels and stuff on the mixer.

Thanks for the advice,

Rob.
