Stereo mix function on laptops - the end is nigh?

I've noticed over the past 5-10 years now that what used to be a standard feature on nearly all PCs and laptops, the so-called "stereo mix" or "what u hear" no longer seems to be a thing and the only option available under recording devices is the built-in microphone.

I've done a lot of reading about it and partly understand the reasons why it was removed (mostly music piracy) but there are also legitimate reasons for using it too. I use an amateur radio decoding program which decodes signals from an internet stream (SDR - software defined readio) and requires the audio directly from the sound card in order to work properly. Picking up the audio 2nd hand from what it hears coming out of the speakers does not work well..

I was rather surprised when I purchased a new HP Stream 11 netbook for a simple task recently that it still had stereo mix functionality in the sound devices, so it does still exist! However I'm looking to replace my old laptop with something fairly high end and from the research I've done I've yet to find anything suitable that has it.

To those of you running a laptop, particularly reasonably modern high-end or gaming laptops, do you have it on yours?
