Steve Rider Retired

Steve Rider has retired after the BTCC race the weekend just gone. 50+ years of presenting sports.
For a lot of us, I expect he was the voice of sports/motorsport through most of our life.

Some great tributes during the BTCC coverage, almost had me in tears especially with the clip of Murray Walker.

Will certainly be missed, and not sure how ITV will fill his shoes

Looks like he's being replaced by Nicki Shields; who has done a fair bit of motorsport reporting, can't say I've heard of her though!

Nicki has been doing Formula E since the beginning of it I think though mostly as the pit lane reporter but has filled in in various roles. She'll be a safe pair of hands.

Hope Steve enjoys his retirement, one of the last old school sports broadcasters (who didn't spend their time getting in spats with morons on social media) who the best compliment I can give was he was just part of the furniture growing up. Turn on Grandstand Steve would be there covering Showjumping, Rugby League, Horse racing, BTCC anything they had on! Also Formula 1, Olympics, Golf he did them all and did them well
