Well I have a X2 waiting to be installed and I currently have an XP90c running on my winne (see sig). I was wondering if this would be OK or whether I should consider something like the SI-120 or the Ninja Scythe? - or maybe an even more powerful 90mm fan (not sure which one I have atm tho)

Temps for me are about 35-40 idle and 45-50 load (depending on weather!) This is with no o/c

Open to suggestions.

Definately - the stock speed of the 3800 is slower than my winnie so I'll need to get something back. :D

Fine - just what I thought. I was planning to use the ASRock DualSataII board and would the fact that the SI120 blew air onto the board be more helpful than the Ninja Scythe being slightly better at cooling?

I used a scythe ninja, x2 3800+ and asrock dual sata2. A combination that gave me 2.6ghz 100% prime95 stable :)

i would stick mate tbh - you wont see a huge difference, the xp-90c is a good cooler and its not like youll be using huge volts with a dual sata

my 2p

Have to agree, the XP90C is a pretty solid cooler, you won't see a massive temp drop with a top end cooler really, and as said the Dual-SATA2 doesn't have a lot in the way of VCore options.

OK, would putting a more powerful fan on it help then? Noise is really too much of a problem for me. so I can get away with it - what would be a good choice then for a 92mm fan?
