Hi guys
Im sick of NTL mischarging me, this is the 3rd month on the trot they haven't charged me right. Im a long standing customer of theirs, (over 10 years) but that doesn't seem to matter anymore! Im beginning to wonder how often they have mischarged me throughout the years.
Right rant over.
Im currently spending around £70 a month for broadband, tv package and phoneline. Ive looked at sky and it looks like i could probably save myself about £15-£20 a month. Only problem is, is their broadand (unlimited) upto scratch? what sort of speeds should i be expecting? right now im getting almost 20mbps with Virgin. Is it worth all the hassle?
Thanks

Phone up virgin media, say ur ****ed off, say you are moving to sky, get free stuff easy.

Magical world of "retentions"

Is it Virgin cable you have or virgin DSL?

I've got cable mate. To be fair the internet is fantastic and I always get pretty much full 20mbps all the time. I used to be a heavyish Usenet user but haven't used that for a while. Looking at offers for sky it looks like I should be able to save myself at least 30 quid. But don't want to be stuck with rubbish internet.

I've made a few enquires and it looks Like I have LLU in my area. What ever that may be?
Thanks

Sky LLU is a great option if you can get it, but do understand it is an 'Up To 20 Meg' technology. If you live close (within a km) to the telephone exchange you can expect to get close to the 20 but if you live remotely from the exchange then you might get less, even considerably less.

Thanks for your reply Tealc. Is there any way to find out if my area is dedinatley LLU? And is thereany way of finding out how far from the exchange I am before ordering?
Thanks

I suspect you will probably not get as good internet if you move from virgin, given you are on 20MB cable. If you are hacked off with them phone them up and cancel everything but the internet.

Tbh i dont use the internet as much as i used to, and dont believe i really need the speeds cable broadband will bring me. So long as its ok for xbox gaming, thatll do for me. I also like the idea of having a shiny new sky plus HD box if the truth be known :)

most of that will require a good ping, and upload. if any of these are poor ( need to find out exchange distance, is it cable or phone line) it will result usually in poor online gaming
