G'Day all.

on my Honda shadow it had 2 large stickers on the tank. i have removed them but it has left some of the glue used to the stickers and its proving difficult to remove. is there anything i could use to remove them a bit easier ??

Thanks.

Warm soapy water :)

Normally removes this sort of residue.

Plus I wouldn't use petrol, could remove the paint!

i might try a little petrol then as being the tank in my bike it gets spills every now and then anyway.

the sticker residue is very nasty stuff. have tryed several times with soapy water and it does nothing.

ps. a cookie to the first person who says mustard :p

Lighter fluid or deodrant, things like that won't do anything to the paint.

People worry about it but I've done it loads, with guitars, basses, drum kits too. Damages nothing, just wash the surface off after to be safe.

Are you kidding? Petrol definitely won't remove paint.

course it does , thats why you get petrol resistant laquers , however his bike petrol tank will be done with this so he can use it if he makes sure he removes it all afterwards

Petrol is the best thing. I had to remove a lot of sticky foam residue from the underside of my petrol tank (left over sound insulation that was peeling off). The petrol just melted it away. This is an un-laquered section underneath and the petrol didn't damage the paint at all. As its a bike the petrol tank paint and laquer are always petrol resistant, would be bloody stupid not to be!

Whit spirit works, as does petrol. The lemony sticky stuff remover is slow but does eventually do the job. My weapon of choice now is Claybar though. Even used it on a window to remove the sticky residue from a window tint.
