I just opened an unopened zip lock bag of shaved chicken and as i pulled open the safety seal i got sprayed in the face by some mist of water or something, then when i went to get the chicken out it was sticky and it left a slimy residue on my hand.
The used by date is 12 April 06.

My question is. Has this chicken gone off and/or unsafe to eat even though it was unopened and before the use by date?

What in the name of Hades is "Shaved Chicken"?

rotten meat always smells bad, take a good whiff and use your own common sense as to whether its off or not would be my suggestion.

Also taste a bit tentaively if still not sure, it wont taste as you expect (a bit like the off chicken breast that i just ruined a perfectly good curry by using ;))

That stuff is probably 50% water anyway. If it doesn't look off or smell off, it's unlikely to be off. I'll be off now.

precooked / shaped /processed meat is always smelly and rank and is pumped full of crap. avoid. Buy a couple of chicken breasts, cook them and cut them up. Much cheaper and better. I'm not saying the chicken breasts won't be pumped full of stuff aswell (mainly water probably) but it's better than 'shaved chicken ' (whatever the heck /that/ is)

Slightly off topic, but have you seen the amount of chemicals and stuff pumped into /onto pre-packed chopped fruit? Man how lazy do you have to be? Fruit is meant to be good for you but not when it is processed so much. Plus you pay for this aswell.
