Still buying a 680

I personally believe that the 680 is a bit of a rip off now that the 670 is on the market. I'd go for a 670 or a 7970 and save yourself money.

If I was buying right now still sitting with my 560ti, I would go for a 670.

Buying a 680 was the best decision ever, totally worth it.

+1

I don't care that the 670 is so close to the 680 and being honest, I wasn't expecting such close performance. What I say above stands true and if I could turn back time, I wouldn't change my decission of buying a 680.

That's the key bit. You can wait forever, but I think you made the right decision at the time - Keplers out, buy it :D

My comment was aimed more at people buying around now

Yep. I had no clue as to the 670 release date/specs, so I went for it. I had almost 2 months with it before the 670 was released.

I make my decision and within 2 minutes it is bought. I am not one to wait (funds depending of course).

I bought a 680 less than 2 weeks ago, I could still send it back but I wont.

Because it's a brilliant card that I'm 100% happy with.

I'm running a stock gigabye 680 and it's just superbly quiet and cool.

Also correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 680 stock cooler quite a bit superior to the 670 stock cooler, it unquestionably is in terms of looks, but I think I read it's a more efficient cooler overall?

Regardless, as you can see in this topic, 680 owners are more than happy.

If I was buying today? Yeah I might well go for a windforce 670, but in truth I've been amazingly impressed with the stock 680 cooler exhausting airflow. And that's coming from an Asus Direct CU top 460 768. The stock cooler is as quiet as that was at idle and plenty quieter at load.

An amazing result for a stock cooler.

From reading other posters talking about the reference 670 cooler, the 680 is deffo quieter.

Is anyone still buying the 680? It seems stock levels are still low and the price is still high.

If there is little difference between them why spend £100 more.

I ask because my intention was to pick up one of these and then another when I had the money. Just wondering who is still going to buy a 680 and if so why?

I bought another one, a Zotac for £410, for SLI but then I had no choice as I couldn't SLI a GTX 670 and GTX 680 together (now there's a good idea...).

The GTX 670 is undoubtedly better value for money though and if I was buying a new graphics now then I'd opt for the 4 GB GTX 670 at £400-£420 over a 2 GB GTX 680 at the same price.
