If i was in your shoes i'd go for the 7950 overclock it get stock 7970 performance, should be good enough for quite awhile and you'll have at least 40 quid in your pocket.

If you like Nvidia get a 670. If AMD aren't an issue for you get the 7950.

They're both quite close in performance so either will be great on 1080p. 7970 is nice but slightly overkill for 1080p. Still, nothing wrong with a 7970 one very fast card.

I 'think' most 7970's are voltage locked, so I'd imagine the 7950 would have more potential, though no guarantee. Personally, I wouldn't say it's worth 40 notes extra. It's quite unlikely that you'd be able to tell the difference without a frame rate counter.

I think from a price/fps standpoint, the 7950 is probably streets ahead of the other 2, and at 1080p, should be plenty, however, I absolutely adore my WF 670 practically silent, if I can hear it while gaming, it just reminds me to turn my cpu fans up to an appropriate level
