I understand I'm very late in discovering this, but after seeing them on Netflix I thought I'd give it a go.

I lived in Scotland for a while and I have Scottish friends so the language isn't too hard for me to understand, but I do appreciate some Southern English folk may struggle.

All I can say is that its actually one of the greatest things I've ever seen. It's had me in tears laughing. The dialogue and some of the slapstick comedy moments are just fantastic. Any scene with Winston in is almost guaranteed to be funny.

It also has some really nice emotional touches, but just when you are getting a bit teary eyed it hits you with another punchline and brings you back up again.

Genius show.

I expect a divide between Scottish people loving it and English people thinking it was crap.

When Winston gets attacked by a "devil dog" and is explaining fighting it off I couldn't control my laughter. Was one of funniest things I've seen in years.

I've watched more and been more impressed. It really touches on some nice things too. The bond they have in their friendship is brilliant when they go for a 60th anniversary meal in town. Just a really nice show.

I'm gonna watch even more tonight. I'm on series 3 already I think. Winston is in most of my favourite scenes and Navid also comes out with some absolute classics.

I also love every time they enter The Clansman and have a snipe at Bobby.

I watched the episode last night where Victor pretends to be ill because he feels his son can never be bothered to contact him. He guilt trips his son into visiting and I found it quite an emotional episode from that respect. Kinda makes you think about aging parents / grandparents and how we quite easily just forget they exist.
