Still no proper(crossfire) dual x16 pcie boards?

I thought the p35 series was meant to introduce proper x16 pci-e slots? So far all ive seen is motherboards claiming to have 2 x16 slots but one is always "4x electrical".

Asus ROG P35 boards will have a crosslinx chip on them that divides PCI-E lanes into 2*8 speed when used in dual GPU mode.

Thats still a pretty big step back from 16x16 which was common with 939 and 775.
