This is weird. Everytime I try to play certain video files within Opera, I'm forced to open up I.E. 7 and use that instead.

Opera gives me those little blank boxes, which I click onto after it tells me that the "plug-in is not installed". I then get referred onto one of Opera's own own help pages where it says to download the Firefox/WMP plugin.

I do this, and am referred to a file called "wmpfirefoxplugin.exe". Apart from clearly sounding the wrong file, there isn't any other options available.

I tried to run and install it, which doesn't throw up any errors. I then reboot Opera, but the only plugins that are installed as follows :

Can anybody help please?

I'm guessing this is with Opera 9.52. Had this problem with any other versions of Opera? I'm getting something similar I think. I'll load up a video on Youtube and then pause it. When the video has fully loaded the video box disappears and I get left with some message saying "Loading Flowplayer". Never had this before with 9.5x so I'm guessing there is something new with 9.52.

I have had this problem with almost all versions of Opera. From the 8 series to the nine series as well. I guess I got used to firing up I.E. but I'd like to know if there's a solution for it. :)

This is also when I was using Win XP32 to Vista64.

Got a link to the videos in question and I can try them out for you.

Lol, ok, erm, well the last thing I tried to view was videos from Jet, the Gladiator from the '90's website.:o

Ah OK then. Ignore me. Thought we might have had similar issues. :)

:D;)

Hmmm, black boxes for me as well. If I click to the very left of the box I get a control menu pop up. But nothing plays and I can't seem to click anything.

Ah really? What are you using? I just tried it in I.E 7, and once the active X control is allowed to run (yellow bar at the top appears) - little WMP icons pop up and you can hear her voice. No options or anything appear in Opera.

Off topic, crickey, she "sounds" hot as well.:p

Nope - I'm using QuickTime Lite too.

It appears to have installed all fine according to the plugins list (above).

Version 9.52
Build 10108
Platform Win32
System Windows NT 6.0
Java Sun Java Runtime Environment version 1.6
XHTML+Voice Plug-in not loaded

^That wouldn't have anything to do with it? I'm not sure it does..

In C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\Program\Plugins I have the following files :

npqtplugin.dll
npqtplugin2.dll
npqtplugin3.dll
npqtplugin4.dll
npqtplugin5.dll
QuickTimePlugin.class

In short: Quicktime will generate plugins on-the-fly, depending on what mime types you set the Quicktime player to handle. This must be done in Quicktime player, either during installation or from the menu. If you don't set Quicktime to handle mp3, Opera will not be able to find a Quicktime plugin capable of playing mp3 files.

Found that.

And also...

Might need to set Quicktime as the default for MP3s for it to work.
