ok, i have my DS3 and the onboard sound. i have been happy with onboard for years now but i hear you can get not only a sound quality boost but also a FPS boost from having a soundcard so suddenly im all ears 
so basicaly, what kind of difference will i see from onboard to a sound card? which sound cards are the high flyers at the moment? why is it better than onboard?
any other tips or advice would be greatly welcomed. i have a DS3 and 6300 @ 2.95 and a corsair 520w psu and a 8800gts and2gb of ram a nice 22" screen so it does seem kind of silly to use onboard sound if a card will be that much better.
