Stirling Moss seriously injured in lift accident

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery - such a fantastic chap.

Still - what a way to have an accident. British ingenuity at it's best. ;)

What a terrible accident, falling down a lift shaft from the third floor. It's surprising that we wasn't more seriously injured. I hope he makes a swift recovery.

Rgds

"Moss broke both ankles and four bones in his feet, plus suffered further damage to his vertebrae, in the fall."

OMG.. I hope he gets better very soon.

What a weird accident, thought that would have been far worse. Hope he gets well soon.

So, he tried to enter the lift when the doors opened prematurely?

Hope he gets well soon, but it's a strange accident!

The way it was described on Radio 2 earlier, the lift doors are supposed to lock when the lift isn't at that floor. They opened, so Sir Stirling walked straight through assuming that all was well (force of habit). Unfortunately, the lift car wasn't there and he fell.

Just read fantastic email from Stirling Moss. "Own damn fault!" Not looking where going. Doing exercises in bed for quick recovery. Star man
Not bad for a man of nearly 80 years.

I was surprised that it was a Williams lift - even given that its Sir Stirling Moss

Get well soon - hope there is no lasting damage, absolute Legend (maybe everyone shouldnt be saying "Leg-end" during this thread given the type of accident) ......
