Stock Amd 64 4000+ Vs Conroe E6300 1.86ghz

Ok im building a new pc and I want to know if a STANDARD Amd 64 4000+ (Socket 939) @ 2.4ghz is quicker than the lowest conroe E6300 @ 1.86ghz.

I know the conroe is dual core but logic tells me that since the amd is running @ 2.4ghz as opposed to 1.86ghz then its the quicker option. Now i know the conroe has more potential to be overclocked but since I do not know how to do this then i would rather leave them as they are, so opinions purely based upon standard specs please.

The rest of the specs im thinking of are as follows, if you need to know them:

Artic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro Cpu Cooler
OCZ Matched 2Gig Platinum Ram DDR 2-3-2
Asus A8N-Sli SE Mobo
Hiper Type R 580 Modular PSU
Seagate Barracuda 160Gig sata H/D
BFG GeForce 7950 GT PCI-E Graphics Card
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1
Sony DVD RW

ok i think im being pursuaded towards this conroe, although that gigabyte ds3 is not sli, which i would prefer and also its a little pricey for the ds4, any more budget friendly sli mobos that are both good for the conroe and possibly overclocking? P.s how long would it take me to overclock the 1.86ghz to say 2.6ghz, bear in mind it will be my first time.
 
ok maybe ill have to fork out a bit more for the ds4 and possibly scrimp a bit on some other parts. 5 minutes thats wicked, in the guide it was on about testing it for long periods of time for stability etc? As for the cooler i was thinking the artic cooling freezer pro 7, but after reading a few posts it sounds like the ninja cooler is the best idea? although that again is more expensive than my original idea :(
 
lol change two settings and im it'l be 2.6, well when people said it was easy lol... now that is easy! :)

Conroe E6300 @1.86ghz
Artic cooling freezer 7 pro
Gigabyte DS4 mobo
GeiL ddr2 2gig
MSI GeForce 7900GTO


Ok you mentioned a core2duo should be running RAM that is 533mhz at least? well this GeiL ram is supposed to be 5300 @ 667mhz, yet in CPU-Z its saying that the ram frequency is 333.4 mhz. Are these two unrelated or is there somthing going wrong somwhere?
