Stock control or lack of it .

Not had the problem with computer parts.
However I did have the same problem 3 weeks ago when I ordered a hedge trimmer, I only went with a particular company as their website said it was in stock. The online payment didn't complete so I had to phone and give card details then the next day got the email saying it was out of stock till the end of then month. They also seem to be a bit on the tardy side sorting out my refund too.......
 
The only problem I have regarding stock is that when I choose a product to buy based on price-performance, etc, it is often out of stock. This means I either have to choose something else, or wait an indeterminate amount of time.
 
The old OcUK website used to update stock levels once every 15 mins onlhy, due to the nature of the site, so if 1 in stock, and more than 1 person ordered in that 15 min period it would cause issues.

But I don't know if the new website is the same, as that was made after I stopped working at OcUK.

Some less scrupulous retailers list lots of stock for products, yet don't actually have them (or don't stock hold and buy from a distributor).

Some basket systems work differently and don't necessarily reserve stock whilst it is added to your basket (e.g. so several people can basket the same item, but it may still allow you to check out).

In OcUK's case though, the only time I have ever heard of issues is with B-Grade stock (which by it's nature is limited).

Happens on a regular basis with ocuk when the stock count is showing 1. Quite often when the picker goes to the shelf in warehouse they cant find the item.

Never happens when stock is greater.
 
Yeah, had this no end of times (then again, I do buy a lot of stuff) and mainly from OCUK.

They used to hold an entire order for one out of stock item, not sure if they still do this :confused:
 
Normally these errors arise when workers cba to do stock take properly, the wrong numbers are entered after stocktake/deliveries or there is a lot of thieving going on
