hi guys, I have an AMD 8320 but, the stock cooler won't go over the latches unless I put serious pressure on the motherboard.

Am I missing a simple trick?

Cheers in advance!

Never had to fit one, so not sure what to advise. Have a look at the video and see if that helps. But if you are going to OC that chip, you might want to consider getting an aftermarket cooler.

I have recently done a socket FM2 install in my media machine, the AMD CAM lever system on the stock heatsink is far far better than intel's stock option.

You may have to use a little more force than you may feel is necessary but it's just a case of hooking both ends of the retaining bar thing onto their respective catches and then moving the lever from one position all the way over to the other if that makes any sense?

Don't be afraid to get too heavy handed with it, it's supposed to be on tight.

Yes, it does take some pressure. But outside the case on a table top protected by newspaper, you should be able to safely exert the required force without damage.

I wouldn't bother. You'll only have to take it off again when you realise how crap and loud the stock cooler is.

Get a decent 3rd party cooler instead.

This.

To answer your question it does require a suprising ammount of force to lock it in but double check its setup correctly before doing it.
