A little - but as Sgt_Pepper says probably not enough for that kind of outlay. Thanks gt_junkie
Did you notice much improvement on video encoding as i think i'd rather a Dualcore over a Quad for the fact the new E8xxx run cooler as you have mentioned.
i went from e6600 to e8400, i notice a bit of improvement at the same clock speed i had on the e6600 (3.6) with 1.58v!!! temps where way high to 35 idle 55+ load.. and thats with watercooling.Anybody upgraded from a E6600 to a E8400 ?
Ifso did you notice much difference at stock settings as i don't overclock.
Thanks
Overclock then.![]()
save your money and overclock the e6600 to 3.0ghz easly for e6600 to do..
Exactly. The same performance (and more) could be had very easily with maybe an hour's tweaking and then a few more hours of stability testing.
Upgrading a stock speed E6600 to a stock speed E8400 would be a colossal waste of money.
The difference to me was £65 because I managed to get a good price for my E6600 on ebay.
I've been told that the 965 chipset on my GIGABYTE 965P-DS3P rev 3.3 will hold back any improvements upgrading from a E6600 to a E8400.
