Have decided on the PC7 OcUk sell for a Conroe build for a friend.
What are the stock fans like ? What speed do they spin at ? I had a PC7 briefly for a while and never even checked.

And what replacement fans would you recommend for this case and is it easy to soft mount fans on the PC7 ? Bear in mind, will not be using a fan controller (person wants to put this pc under their table and not touch it basically), so fans will be running at 12v. And before someone recommends the ambers, I hate these fans at 12v. They are definitely not 18db, and sound like a tractor - not sure if it's in the nature of ball bearing fans or if it's the motor itself. The only time I have had ambers run quietely is at around the 7v mark and even then I could hear the motor noise. The quietest fans I have heard at 12v are the Nexus fans, but they don't really push much airflow compared to the Ambers (around 900rpm). And I don't like the Acoustifan dustproofs either. Too noisy at 12v for my tastes.

Am considering the Scythe S-FLEX 1200RPM. Pricey I know, but they offer a nice compromise between the very quiet Nexus 120mm fans which only do 900rpm or the even worse Scythe S-Flex 800rpm jobs, and the rather irritating Ambers at 1400rpm. Anyone tried these Scythes ? I know they are not really good value for money compared to the Ambers.

Hey mate

depending on whether you have the LED ones or the plain old black ones, it will differ slightly, but either way they will still be blooming noisy.

I was gonna say Ambers as although the 80mm ones are naff and quite loud, the 120mm ones are usually rated quite well. Seeing as they are a no go though, try the Sharkoon 1000 "Golf Ball" fans. They are extremely quiet, literally inaudible, but they only push around 38 - 39cfm. But to be honest for the Lian li which is a good cooling case anyway, will be more than enough.

OcUK dont stock these but they can easily be found, and retail for around £7, so well worth it
