Hi all,

So I just found out a week or so ago the sister in laws iPad was stolen. It's the iPad that my young niece uses to do a lot of schoolwork/learning on. It was taken from the car that was broken in to in a parking lot.

Find my phone/ipad was switched on, but by the time she got back to the car and found it, and logged on to find my phone it had already been turned off. I check again yesterday, and still turned off. It has Wifi and Mobile data.

Is there anything else we can do to try and track this down?

The thief might have removed the SIM by now.

is the iPad running iOS 7?
Does it have PIN lock enabled?

Yeah, I have done all the above. I was just hoping there was something else that I might be able to do. Its the first time I have had anything taken: I thought the purpose of Find My Phone was to be able to track things down in times like this. Seems a little silly if it can be got around just by turning it off haha! And then just wiping it once home.

If Find My iPhone was enabled and it was running iOS 7 then you can at least be safe in the knowledge that nobody can get into it, and will never be able to activate it.

Yeah, iOS 7 and find my iPhone were both enabled.

Still doesn't make the theft any less bitter however! I'd be fine, but the little niece is the one who is upset, as it was her birthday present! Poor thing!

It would have had an IMEI number right? Give that to the police and/or network provider and they should block it so the turds can't use it. OK they could change the IMEI but that is also illegal.
