The people that do basic house theft aren't going to have the technical knowledge to wipe it either. Very unlikely it will be wiped. It may have even been stolen to order, by some organised criminal/fraud gang. Very common for things like that to happen these days, criminal gangs get junkies or whoever to steal stuff like cars and laptops which can then be used for more profitable things. Assuming it is sold on ebay or something even then there is a chance of it being used for fraud, it has happened many times before, with fraudsters using ebay to buy old hard drives and cheap computers to obtain details from unwiped hard drives.
