The era of the Stomp Monster is slowly coming to an end.

The layers that I used to host were returned into the friendly hands of Gibbo around lunchtime today at OcUK HQ.

Gibbo mentioned that it will now be down to Spie to decide what to do next, though I would hope that Spie will consult with the Stompy shareholders about the layers that they own.

Ah well, it was good while it lasted, but with the end of the original SETI project and the relative inefficiency of the layers compared to modern crunchers, it was inevitable that the Stomp Monster should be put to rest at some stage.

Anyway, h'onwards and h'upwards for the good ship OcUK Folding (is it me, but that just doesn't trip of the tongue as well as SETI Stomper did).

/cue the thread turning into "we should do it again with modern hardware" once again :D
To be honest, the orders for son of Stompy went in today (including picking up some bits from OcUK whilst I was returning the original Stompy layers). These layers will be crunching under my name though, but still for Team 10 - watch this space. :D :D

Thanks again for running Stompy beyond a reasonable lifetime :)
It's sad to see it go but all good things come to an end sometime.
I'm still proud of my shares, I reckon they were a good buy for the team at the time.
Crunch on!

It's a sad fact that one QX6600 can get close to the same Folding@home PPD as the whole of ol' Stompy, and two can utterly obliterate it. You have Gordon Moore to thank for that (with a little help from SMP goodness).
