On the M62 today, a large stone hit my windscreen causing quite a large stone-chip, directly in my line of sight which is killing my OCD.

Is this either repairable or going to require a replace?

I hope it can be repaired, if not can I force insurance to replace the screen for a stone chip? It's pretty large and in my direct vision so really affecting my concentration.

I believe if it's affecting your ability to drive in any way they should replace it, it also has the risk of failing MOT and/or developing into a crack. You may have to pay an excess mind depending on your policy.

Who is your insurance with?

Excess I don't mind, just don't want to pay the full £1,500 whack. Insurance is provided by Ageas.

Their rules. What they don't state is what they *will not* repair, and *that* happens to be quite a lot (the damage has to meet their repair criteria).

The issue with their repair criteria is twofold; the equipment they use (restricts certain repairs) and the repairer confidence/experience (the repair technician will be penalised for failed repairs).

From what I can see in the image, the damage is on the surface, IOW, it is not structural. More of a cosmetic repair. I would repair that but I cannot see the exact position in relation to the driver and the wiper sweep.

The position is almost bang centre of the drivers side of the windscreen.

They did an injection repair and buff today. It's gone down a fair bit and taking shine off it, I'll see if I can live with it for a few days otherwise it will be replaced.
