What used to be a UK
machine check exception

0x00000009c (0x00000004 0x80545ff0 0xb2000000 0x00070f0f

The error only seems 2 occur on close-down

Have recently upgrade the ram 2 2gig and replaced an x800 xl with a 7800 gt from overclockers. System spec is as follows:

win xp sp2
2 gig geil value
7800 gt
160 gig sata
epox 9npa+ mobo
power supply generic 400 watt

Could it be the power supply
shall check the bios settings shortly. Thanks. Oh, I should have said that the error is intermittent.

PSU sounds weak, it would be my first port of call.

You could also try running MemTest86+ and see if the RAM is OK. See what voltages are like too.

Hi, another thing to check as well is the Hard Drives. I had this issue of a stop check exception for months, same error number as you at random times, mostly when the machine was idle and doing nothing, after check PSU, RAM, Heat issues it turn out to be a failing Hard Drive, as it was clunking then BSOD pop up.

Never thought of HD at the start, as it never happened in games or moving files arounds, only when idle or surfing the net with no HD activity, until the drive got worse then it would lock up doing intensive stuff with the HD. Look at this as well.

Hope this helps.

I once solved this error with a hard drive upgrade. Try the usual things that don't cost you money first though! i.e chipset/video/audio drivers etc.
