STOP Error and Netbook...

I can't install Windows for some reason, I boot from an external CD Drive with Windows XP and get the usual about do you want to set up Windows press 'ENTER' and then I get:

Setup has recognized the following mess storage devices in your computer:
<none>

So I press ENTER to continue and then F8 to agree and get:

The following list shows the existing partitions and unpartitioned space on this computer,

Unknown Disk
<There is no disk in this drive.>

Then I press ENTER anyway and get a lovely STOP error:

Can anyone help with this please?
