My friends dad is having a problem with his computer, it will bluescreen with the following error code during startup:

STOP: 0x000000A5 (0x0001000B, 0x50434146, 0xFFD010C0, 0x00000000)

Everywhere I search mentions this problem during installation of Vista or XP but this computer has been running fine for almost a year with no hardware changes. (It's a retail high street pc).

Any ideas what the problem could be? I'm drawing blanks.

It's Vista Home premium and only gets used the for web / word etc, no games.

Oh and he cannot find the Vista disc that came with it and I don't have a copy of Vista myself.

That usually means the bios isn't acpi compatible, but if windows has been installed for a while it is probably some other hardware issue. Have you tried running memtest on it? Could also mean the vista install is corrupted.
