Stop Errors

I am trying to repair a laptop that has been dropped. Apperantly it didnt ful too hard
I have replaced the harddrive as it didnt want to boot at all, so I am trying to boot from a windows disc to install XP fresh. I have also checked that the ram and cpu havn't become dislodged, they both seem fine.

Windows install gets as far as the first time it says "Starting Windows" and then BSODs with a error message -

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000006, 0xF94AEFEA, 0xF8843A14, 0x00000000)

what the hell does that mean!

thats great mate. i will try moving it to the other slot, you never know!

tried the ram in both slots, and have now tried new ram, again, in both slots. Still getting the same error? Any other ideas? This laptop is doing my head in!
