Stop............. Kuro time

Panasonic Pro range are on par with the ex-Kuros :)

quite expensive though

absolutely thrilled with my 42PF11 - not quite as good blacks as the 9G (not far off though) but better in other respects

Other than the 9th gen Pioneers I've still not seen a set that compares to the 8th gen Pioneers. Only thing that would put me off would be lack of warrenty support.

I've got 5 years on my Pio from Pio, so I've love to see what they would do if anything went wrong with it.

Yay, local dealer has one in stock so off to get it this morning.

I'll use the settings over at AVforums in Bumptious's thread, are these ok out of the box or do I need to reduce contrast I bit more for the first few months?

Also do I need to be paranoid about screen logos, say a hour or two every night? I dreamt about them last night, woke up in a sweat! :D

It's being delivered tomorrow, no sleep for me tonight :p

Yay, it's here. Just waiting on some muscle to help mount it on the stand :D

My 60" arrived on a pallet. Had to get a forklift to get it off the delivery vehicle :D

one film you MUST get on Blu is 'The Fall'. A beautiful, clever and satisfying film that even SWMBO will enjoy, and it is also the most visually stunning picture I have seen in a long time.

Must buy for all !

Just bought this, look forward to watching it.

Ever tried some of the settings they are talking about in this thread?

Personally I like the setup I have now (bumtious settings) and everyone who sees the TV comments how good the picture is.

1st i have seen of these but havn't kept up with the thread since it was part 2. I too like the bumtious settings but they mention these settings have a sharper picture and a bit more pop so i may have a look at them. :)

Which setting are you referring tot? Are they talking about settings on the 5090 or 6090 in that part of the thread?

Currently using bumtious settings and have also tried astirlings. Sticking with bumtious's at the mo.

My room is quite dark so I think Movie suits it better.

Plus it passes the 15min 20sec 'Dog test' in I am legend. Shadow detail test, where you need to be able to see the dog's left nostril. Most TV's and many settings on the Kuro will just crush it out.

Who still has their Kuro then ? My friends have been buying TVs recently and I am completely out of date. From a quick skim even now it seems the Kuro has yet to be beaten?

Nah you can out do them now but you still can't do it cheaply which is impressive or massively disappointing depending on how you look at it.

I really don't think anyone thought they would still be the reference plasma TVs this far down the line, but even the latest models from panasonic and the like are only just closing the gap. When I got my 50" V20 Panasonic 2 years ago it was meant to be close in terms of performance, but in reality I think it falls short. Subsequent sets aren't leaps and bounds better by all accounts, just add or subtract niggling problems (green tinge, screen buzz etc.). If you had the cash in 2008/9 they've turned out to be a cracking buy!

We've still got ours and it's still an amazing buy. I've looked at the new crop of TVs to be honest, as I'm not interested in 3D. Saying that, we might be selling ours after Christmas, as we're moving, so need to offload some bulky items.
