Stop me from being an Apple newb - FaceTime

Ok

I have a MBA and MBP both using the same Apple ID. The wife at home, with the MBA wants to facetime. We can't.

I see that she can add her email address to FT, then effectively call my email address.

Problem is, when she does that, I see the call, but no option to answer (only end). Its like it's still dialling itself.

Easy fix?

Is not because your using same I.D?

Yes, exactly that, but apparently, that's fine. You can use the same ID as long as you add an additional email to the FT app

power off all devices and back on then test call again

Simple solution is to create an OS X user account for your wife, and set her up with her own iCloud account - much better than logging into your account on the MBA.
