Stop my son installing programmes?

It seems I have to reinstall windows every few months on my son's computer as he installs random crap that pops up by accident.

Is there any way to have some type of password prompt to install something? He uses steam slot so I don't mind him installing from there, so if it could be possible to allow steam freely

How old is he? Tried giving him a good old fashioned telling him off?

You can always set his Windoes login so he does not have permission to install stuff.

He shouldn't need to install from Steam enough for you to be bothered with putting the password in.

What OS is he using?

Set him up as a Standard user and it should prompt for a password when installing applications / making system changes.

I've done it for the In-Laws as they're a nightmare when it comes to installing crap!

As above, any reason why he needs an admin account?

Password protect the admin account as well so he can't bypass the standard user account when something asks for admin details.

cant vouch for it but http://www.completelock.com/ install guard seems to do what you want for free as a program

Nope, better lock him out. Youngsters and the elderly shouldn't be allowed admin accounts
