Now, before I get an avalanche of unhelpful posts, let me say that I have read a lot on this topic and in short, no-one seems to know.

It is not a case of "power settings" or "allow this device to wake the computer" as those settings aren't available to USB controllers or hubs.

But this has got to be possible. The mobo is a Gigabyte GA-X58a-UD3R

Thanks

Well it is defiantly possible because i have a Gigabyte GA-X58a UD3R and plugging my phone in doesn't wake it up from sleep mode, no idea what setting it is that causes it too/not to wake though.

Having done a little test, it turns out that it's only unplugging something that was plugged in when the PC was on which wakes it up, so I guess I'm only after a partial solution. Is yours the same? I tested with a flash drive.

Thanks

nope mine doesn't wake when either a usb memory stick or my phone is either plugged or unplugged while sleeping.

here is my bios settings for wake events

Also was it really necessary to create another thread for the same problem, the moderators generally frown on that sort of thing, maybe one of them will be nice enough to merge the two threads.

You mean the other thread that's related to sleep mode but about a totally different thing?

Best practice is actually to keep separate topics separate.

Sorry I just read the titles which i think you would agree make it seem as if your on about the same thing.

Computer wakes up immediately when USB hub is connected

True. I did think that after.

My BIOS settings are similar, except that I have PME and Ring disabled too. Weird. Are you on Win 7 x64?

yes win7 ultimate x64

If it helps this is what it says about the PME option in the manual, my Corsair TX750 has 3A on the +5vsb

PME Event Wake Up
Allows the system to be awakened from an ACPI sleep state by a wake-up signal from a PCI or PCIe device. Note: To use this function, you need an ATX power supply providing at least 1A on the +5VSB lead. (Default: Enabled)
