lol :D

My case is doing my heading - I think the side panel on my antec 300 is vibrating. It makes a rattling noise, but when I put my leg on the case, the noise stops. (which is why I assume its vibration)

How can I stop this? :)

Thanks guys, noise is driving me insane + my leg is getting cold :D

If that doesn't fix it - you could isolate the Hdd.

I had an annoying rattling - and that was the only thing that sorted it for me.

Hi,

I had an annoying rattling everytime i used the DVD DRIVE, what sorted it for me was removing the grey backing plates on the 5'25 DRIVE BAYS behind the black fascia's, sorted it no problem plus they can't be seen anyways.

Xtremeforce

I used to get one whenever using my external HD. I good old trusty wack usually did the trick.

* If it makes a noise hit it.

Check the little plasticy Motherboard panel on the back of your case I/O shield?

If it isnt that then blu tac is a good idea

Silicon gel, like the stuff used to seal in baths etc. Spread it thin though, or you'll have to wait 24 hours or so to let it dry.

Stinks to high heaven whilst wet too.

My seagate 320g drive vibrates a lot rattling the case. not sure if the drive is on its way out or not. If I run drive outside the case it gets burning hot.

Seagates have especially noisy seaks so they make any noisy design case even noisier.

It's not hitting, it's percussive maintenance.

I had exactly the same problem recently, was driving me crazy, used to leave my wallet/shoe/ brick on top of the case to stop it, otherwise just wacked it. It turns out it was just a few cables lightly touching a heatsink or hard drive and then side panel as well, after i moved them somewhere better off (read cablie tie to the 5.25side rack) it has stopped.

What i mean is that it could just be the side panel amplifying the vibrations and noise and not the actual cause.

Its usually caused by either:

You hard drive/s after a while may well cause a hormonic resonance effect with your case side. Either isolate the drive, use washers on the screws sometimes works. Or use foam of somesort on the case side edges to dampen the vibration.

A case fan where the bearings are on the way out. Best way is to replace the fan if you find to be the problem.

Power supply with a dodgy fan. Same as above but more expensive :p
