Hi All,

We have 5 login accounts for each of the years at my school and we want to be able to stop the kids from moving and deleting folders on the network. Can anyone help, with the file\folder level permissions to stop this happening?

We have a Windows Server 2003 DC and mainly XP and some Win7 clients.

Your help is greatly appreciated :)

Surely this can be enforced via NTFS File permissions by adding all the users into Groups and giving them read only rights?

I thought that, but what happens if they need to change/edit their files within a folder?

I know it's going to be a far amount of work but purely having 5 log ons to cover the years seems strange. Surely setting each pupil up with their own login and then setting permissions purely for their own folder would be the way to go?

Also doing it that way you can keep track of pupils who cause issues rather then it just being a generic login.

also agree with each user having an account.

remember, users go in groups, groups go on folders!!

only muppets put users in file permissions!!
